Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley officials have recently announced the new executive board for the organization.

The Executive Board consists of Jean Morrison as President, Sue Reynolds as Vice President, Rob Stern as Treasurer and Barbara Cochran as Board Secretary.Domestic Violence Center Officials Announce New Executive Board

Morrison is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and is the owner and Chief Instructor of Bright Star ATA Martial Arts.

She has extensive experience assisting survivors of sexual and domestic violence through self-defense, creative expression, and public education programs.

Morrison's primary goal is to lead DVC's Board of Directors in the creation and implementation of a strategic vision and planning process, working to strengthen the capacity of the board and its members in support of that vision and plan.

Getting ready to test for her 5th Degree Black Belt, Morrison is just as dedicated to assisting others in optimizing health and wellness.

Additionally, Morrison is known for the establishment of programs that develop future leaders, create inclusive and supportive training environments for people with special needs and physical challenges, and for at-risk and low-income youth.

Domestic Violence Center Officials Announce New Executive Board

About 60% of the students receiving service through Bright Star ATA are in the high to low functioning range of the Autism Spectrum.

A leader in violence prevention education, Morrison received the honor of Woman of the Year from the Los Angeles County Commission for Women for the establishment of the Ending Violence Against Women Conference at California State University, Northridge.

Morrison also co-founded the Los Angeles Clothesline Project to raise awareness about sexual and domestic violence.

She said that she looks forward to working with Executive Director, Linda Davies, in furthering the work of the DVC in Santa Clarita and beyond.

Prior to opening Bright Star ATA, Morrison consulted for domestic violence shelters and sexual assault crisis centers in Los Angeles and throughout California on event planning, public relations and media.
