New ‘Safer At Home’ Health Order Bans Most Gatherings In L.A. County

County health officials issued a modified “Safer at Home Order” Friday banning almost all gatherings of people not in the same household, even if they are held outdoors.

On Friday, officials with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH) issued an update to the county’s Public Health Order, putting additional restrictions in place across the county starting Monday.

In the new Order that goes into effect on Monday, residents are advised to stay home as much as possible and always wear a face covering over their nose and mouth when they are outside their household and around others,” the new health order reads.

Among those restrictions is a ban on almost all kinds of private and public gatherings within the county, whether they be indoor or outdoor. The two exceptions to this ban are outdoor church services and outdoor protests, as long as participants in both adhered to social distancing and facial covering guidelines.

“These targeted measures are in effect for the next three weeks and still allow for many essential and non-essential activities where residents are always masked and distanced,” said Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of the LADPH. “We know we are asking a lot from so many who have been sacrificing for months on end and we hope that L.A. County residents continue following Public Health safety measures that we know can slow the spread. Acting with collective urgency right now is essential if we want to put a stop to this surge.”

Additionally, outdoor activities that are currently permitted will now be limited to 50 percent capacity, indoor essential retail is limited at 35 percent capacity and indoor non-essential retail is limited at 20 percent capacity.

County health officials estimate that 1 in 145 Los Angeles County residents are currently infectious to others with COVID-19 and that about 1 in 5 have had COVID-19 at some point during the pandemic.

The announcement comes just after a three-week closure of all in-person dining for the over 31,000 restaurants in the county took effect at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger moved to block this shutdown during the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ regular meeting on Tuesday, but was struck down by Supervisors Hilda Solis, Sheila Kuehl and Mark Ridley-Thomas in a 3-2 decision.

“I feel this arbitrary and punitive towards outdoor dining in restaurants,” Barger said. “While it is a concern that cases are increasing, it cannot be directly attributed to outdoor dining.”

An additional 4,544 Los Angeles County coronavirus cases have been reported Friday, for a total of 387,793 cumulative cases, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH).

24 additional deaths have been reported Friday with the total deaths across the county reaching 7,543, according to public health.

There are 1,893 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Friday, 24 percent of which are in the ICU. Just two weeks ago, there were 888 people with COVID-19 hospitalized, officials said.

“The increases in cases and hospitalizations must slow to avoid overwhelming our hospitals and healthcare staff, and save lives,” reads a statement issued by the LADPH Wednesday.

An update issued by public health officials Wednesday predicts that hospitals may face shortages of both hospital and ICU beds in the next two to four weeks if there is no change to the current rate of transmission.

New ‘Safer At Home’ Health Order Bans Most Gatherings In L.A. County

  1. The fact that protests continue to be named and permitted mass gatherings when they know most do not follow masks and distancing guidelines removes any credibility these officials have. Where is the contact tracing data and what is the profile of the impacting individuals? Why is nobody in the media asking any questions like this? Increasing hospitalization is always a concern if it is a cross-section of the populous. If not, then they know the sources. I have my inside sources that indicate they know exactly who the impacted population is which is why you are not hearing about it.

  2. If this so called pandemic were so bad, why pick a future date for this bull crap lockdown. This is fear mongering at its core! With a 99.8% survival rate, this falls into the yearly flu category. Stop stalling the virus’ natural death by locking down. It never works and the so called powers that be KNOW this. People need to STOP following this crap and start looking st MEDICAL facts from reputable sources. The CDC, Fauchi, Birx, the WHO are not those sources any longer.

    • Totally agree. This is so out of control. There are thousands of people moving away from southern California. If you have been seriously thinking about this do it now before the housing market becomes worse than it was before. Maybe this is Newcomer plan..tptally bankrupt California so he and his rich asshole can buy up property cheap and then control the state as a communist dick.

  3. ASK YOURSELF – WHY ISN’T THE MEDIA POSTING THIS? WHY AREN’T THEY ASKING FACTUAL QUESTIONS RATHER THAN PRINTING ONLY PARTIAL FACTS? :

    State COVID-19 website:

On July 23, 2020, the state of California took 137,572 tests and we had a 14 day positive test rate of 7.5%.

On Nov 23, 2020, the state of California took 283,819 tests and we had a 14 day positive test rate of 5.6%.

According to these numbers, California is actually doing better today than we did 4 months ago. I don’t get it!!!!

  4. Don’t forget that Barbara Ferrara got caught on a hot mic saying that schools will reopen after the election.
I didn’t realize that the Virus can tell when an election is being held…
And the Left-wing Propaganda Outlets NEVER did a story on that…
    The just covered it up….

But by all means get your holiday shopping done by Monday, because you know, safety and all that.

  5. If everyone would just stop running to the testing sites the numbers would line up a little better. Since the health dept and the government had put the fear in all
We have to live like a 3rd world country and the protesters live like normal. So if we all go protest Ferrer and newsom then we will be good. Since protesting with people not in your family is different than you hanging out with your friends
Protesting is not a good example of not having to stay at home. That is bs and you all know it. This is now turned into a big political game. Government against us.

  6. It is political, yes, because of President handled it horribly. Now we’re stuck in a mess. He barely listens to Fauci. He’s never even taken a firm position on wearing masks. His rallies alone were a clear sign of how much disregard he had for the severity of spreading this virus. Covid has spread through his family and staff. If you want to blame anyone for the spread of this virus and absolute mess we’re in it’s our non-leader of a President and those that actually look to him as someone to emulate. Can’t wait to see him go. It’s horrible we have to stop enjoying life as we knew it, it’s horrible businesses and people are suffering, but until Covid is under control we’re all screwed, especially in LA county.

    • Shadow the illogical shadow speaker: Everything is Political, but if they don’t tell & enforce the truth/facts, we will all suffer! They know(and we should) family Dependent (PC called orientated) , rioters/so-called protesters, resistant fools without masks and bunching up causes the spread! But, what can their primitive behavior outcomes can we except to live a decent lifestyle again?! Certain cultures behaviors are suppressed! Trump did a great job in the face of a NEW horrible pandemic and, as usual, the Liberal, deceitful, sleazy, non-American believers ostracized him with the “card” escape blames like “xenophobic, racist, etc.”. Tell the truth/facts!

      • Hoards of people in Costco and Walmart are OK. People in Churches, eating outside, or outside at beaches are restricted. Beach parking restrictions closing off every other parking space for “social distancing”, but those same restrictions were not implemented at the big box stores or markets.
        What a joke.
The media will be reporting next year that Biden has solved all the virus issues.

      • Trump is sleezeball, ask Stormy Daniels (at least she’s a self proclaimed sleezeball).

Trump is a racist, ask the Central Park 5. Watch him openly pander to white supremacy for VOTES…

There are herds of Trump supporters every weekend that are “resistant fools without masks and bunching up causes the spread”

Jojo, you obviously don’t know what a hypocrite is.

    • TDS is also a disease.

If someone has to rely on ANYONE in government to tell you how to react to any illness they shouldn’t be allowed to drive a car or vote since they can’t make a decision on their own.

  7. In case anyone forgot we live in LA County. You people really think you live somewhere else…

    Location Cases Deaths
    Los Angeles County 391K 7,623

    San Bernardino County 92,164 1,129

    Riverside County 85,769 1,437

    San Diego County 80,081 997

    Orange County 79,049 1,577

  8. In case anyone forgot,
    FLASH BACK
    May 5, 2020

In his daily press Conference, NY’s Cuomo expressed shock at the “newest” CDC stat, that 2/3 of new hospital cases in New York were found in people that stayed home during lockdowns.

According to the experts, and there seems to be an abundance of them and growing daily,
“Covid doesn’t’ know what time it is, and doesn’t know what city, state, or country it is in”

I’m sure this lockdown will have different results,

  9. Miss death on a cracker looking lady can stuff
it. Protests are ok but I can’t see my brother because he lives in a different house.
    Not gonna happen .
