Community Gardens Holds Fundraiser To Build New Plots

The Community Gardens of Santa Clarita will hold a fundraising donation drive to raise money for its Charity Expansion Project. The Community Gardens is partnering with Goodwill Southern California on the project, with a goal to build 25 new garden plots.

The Community Gardens consists of 80 garden sites that are tended by individual gardeners, who enjoy planting flowers, herbs and organic vegetables.

To raise money for the new plots, the drive is asking for donations of:

  • furniture
  • kitchen items
  • decorative items
  • books and DVDs
  • clothing and toys
  • lamps, games, linens
  • TVs, e-Waste
  • holiday decorations and craft items
  • computers, artwork, sporting goods

Goodwill has agreed to donate $50 for each bin that is filled with donations.

Those wishing to donate may bring their donation items to the Garden in Saugus Central Park located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road. Advance drop off runs through May 5. A Goodwill truck will be at the Community Garden to accept all donations on Sunday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Community Gardens of Santa Clarita is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create a facility where SCV residents and guests can come together to promote the benefits of locally grown, organic food that is environmentally friendly, sustainable, and cost effective.
