The event will raise money for Project Kindle, a nonprofit charity which provides free services to children and adolescents with serious illnesses, disabilities and other life challenges, and The Peace Fund, which focuses on small, underfunded charities that are determined to make a positive difference in the lives of children living in extraordinarily difficult circumstances.

Project Kindle began as Camp Kindle, with a weeklong, free summer camp for those infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Since 2004, the organization has expanded its services to offer multiple camping sessions and year round support, including a speakers bureau, a scholarship fund, and education and outreach programs.

At the match, two Project Kindle kids will serve as honorary team captains, wearing uniforms and joining the players on the sidelines.

It will also feature the women’s Pro-Am Team Blue Heat and Combat Radio-sponsored Deportivo Colima.

The play-by-play broadcast will be called by Lex Lang, star of the Justice League and Batman.

Attending the soccer match is free. Voluntary donations for Project Kindle will be taken at the event.

Paul says the sponsors are going to use the money to buy an infant respirator for a hospital in Hungary.  On an Indiegogo webpage for the event, the Highlander actor says, “Sure – $5 on its own won’t do that much but when joined with all the other (dollar) amounts, the difference is that a baby in distress is going to live and laugh and hopefully make a positive difference in the world – all because you reached out and supported me.”

Adrian Paul (courtesy of LAtalkradio.com)Paul is asking his fans to help raise money for the charity by sponsoring his participation in the event. “There can be only one… soccer match. One winner… children in need,” said Paul.

The kickoff will be Sunday, May 5 at 5 p.m. at Canyon Stadium in Canyon Country. For more information, visit combatradionow.com or https://www.facebook.com/TheCombatRadioCelebrityCharitySoccerInvitational
