City Of Santa Clarita To Update General Plan Housing Element, Seeks Input

The City of Santa Clarita will host a public workshop to receive input from the community regarding the update of the General Plan Housing Element at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 8 at the Santa Clarita Activities Center on Centre Point Parkway.

The Housing Element is one of seven elements within the City’s General Plan. The City will be looking to update several topics within the current version of the document, including trends within the housing market, the cost of housing, assistance programs and housing availability.

“The City strives to ensure that good quality housing is available to everyone, and a safe, comfortable home is the cornerstone to a happy, healthy family and part of what makes our community great,” said Mayor Bob Kellar.

The General Plan is the City’s guiding document that outlines policy for land use, economic development, safety, traffic, the environment and housing. The purpose of the Housing Element is to ensure adequate housing exists for all families in Santa Clarita. State law requires the Housing Element be updated every eight years.

For more information about the meeting or the update process contact David Peterson, Assistant Planner II with the Planning Division, at 661-255-4330. Click here for a copy of the City’s General Plan.
