Families looking for fun activities to keep their children occupied during the summer, can sign up for the City of Santa Clarita’s eight-week Summer Blast program, starting Monday, June 17.

The program for ages 5-12 runs Monday through Friday from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at the Newhall Community Center on Market Street and the Canyon Country Community Center on Flying Tiger Drive.
Summer Blast activities vary weekly with in arts and crafts, music, sports, creative dramatics, indoor and outdoor games, history and nature. In addition to each week having a new theme, “Wacky Fridays” will feature separate themes including Twin Day, Holiday Day, Superhero Day, Sports Day, Crazy Hair Day, Talent Show, Animal Day and Mismatch Day.
“Santa Clarita community centers are the perfect place for community members to spend their summer days making new friends and memories all while having fun at one of the City’s local facilities,” said Mayor Bob Kellar. “Summer Blast offers a variety of specialty programs and opportunities, and provides a fun and structured setting for youth to participate in enrichment activities, crafts, games and more.”
Special events during the program will include magic shows, wildlife presentations, and waterslide days.
There is a $20 registration fee per child per week and $25 for non-residents. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be accepted until the program is full.
