Interested artists must submit a design and materials by July 12, 2013 to CallForEntry.org including:

  • a letter explaining the artist’s interest in the project,

  • a current resume of the artist and/or each team member,

  • and three examples of past work.

The proposed design must include one of three distinct themes, including: recreation, history, or enjoyment of nature and open space preservation, as the project will serve as a way to introduce visitors to the city.

The artwork can be created using a variety of methods and materials including: sandblasting, etching, tile work, stone, metalwork, grating, and paint.

The usable space for the art piece is 34 feet wide and 15 feet tall.

“The City is committed to increasing opportunities for residents to participate in and be exposed to high quality art experiences, while increasing awareness of the value the arts add to the community,” said Mayor Bob Kellar.

“Magic Mountain Parkway is one of the most heavily-used off ramps and the art will serve as another way to introduce visitors to our unique community, while welcoming residents home.”

The Wall Art Project is part of the City of Santa Clarita City Council and Arts Commission’s efforts to provide a variety of enriching art experiences in the community through the Art in Public Places program.
