City Holding Public Meetings To Discuss Mobile Home Rent Procedure Changes
Santa Clarita residents can attend a series of public meetings to discuss updates to mobile home park rent procedures, city officials announced Wednesday.
The drafted changes have been proposed to Santa Clarita Municipal Code 6.02, which pertains to manufactured home park rent adjustment procedures.

“The city of Santa Clarita occasionally re-evaluates city ordinances, which are city laws, and in this case we had heard comments from the public that they would like us to look at this ordinance again and consider some changes,” said Erin Lay, housing program administrator for the city. “Whenever we do this sort of update to a city ordinance, we always conduct a significant public outreach process in order to get all the stakeholders’ comments.”
The meetings are set to introduce the draft update and provide residents the opportunity to offer their input, according to a city news release.

City officials are inviting mobile home park residents, park owners, park managers and the general public to “share their thoughts and suggestions” on the drafted changes.
“Some of the proposed changes include a reduction in the minimum annual space rent increase based on the consumer price index, as well as changes to the amount of increase allowed when a space is vacant,” Lay said.
More than 70 residents attended the last set of public meetings held in September 2013, and Lay hopes to see similar attendance across this set of meetings.
The meetings are scheduled for Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Old Town Newhall Library, Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Century Room at City Hall and Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Canyon Country Library.
