“We just got (the call), and officers just confirmed that’s what it is,” said Officer John Lutz, CHP spokesman.
The crash was first reported at 1:15 p.m., according to CHP officials.
“It was a one-axle, box truck versus a catering truck,” Lutz said.
“We have a fatality on scene, and we have another party who was transferred to the local hospital with moderate injuries,” Lutz said.
The fatal crash occured near the intersection of Highway 126 and Commerce Center Drive, according to Sgt. Reyes of the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall Office.
The body was discovered near that intersection.
The nature of the investigation is still being determined by officers, as the call went out shortly after 1 p.m.
“It depends on what’s going on out there, will depend on who’s going to handle it,” Lutz said.
