“If you have ever thought about fostering before, this is a good time to start,” says Marcia Morris, from the Children’s Bureau of Southern California.

“There are not enough foster families, and all  agencies need foster families right now,” Morris said. “All of the current foster family homes are full, and this is the most amount of need we have ever had.”

The meeting will take place from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Community Room.

“Every child deserves to have a safe, loving and permanent family,” according to event officials.

“Children’s Bureau invites individuals and couples to become Resource Families to care specifically for children during the reunification process with their parents,” the news release states. “There are also children currently in foster care who are unable to return to their families of origin.

“Children’s Bureau encourages caring families to consider foster- adopting these children,” the statement continued. “Families who have the willingness, ability and resources to care for teenagers, older children and sibling sets are also invited.”

“For 110 years, Children’s Bureau has been a nonprofit leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect, according to the group’s news release. “More than 21,000 children and families are helped each year throughout Southern California with services that include school readiness, parenting classes, family resource centers, support groups, mental health counseling, foster care, foster-adoption and more,” according to a press release.
