“We’re building a retaining wall behind what’s going to be the new county library,” said Stacey Williams, property manager and agent for BRAD Management. “Somebody came in (Thursday) and did well over $10,000 in vandalism damage to the site.”
The lot is near the shopping center at the northeast corner of Sloan Canyon and The Old Road in Castaic.
“They turned on the water and demolished the trenching, and they broke up the concrete and stole some rebar,” Williams said.
An estimate on the damage is still under way, however, Williams said it’s expected to be “well into five figures,” in addition to delaying construction at least two weeks.
A report has been filed with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, Williams said, and they are looking to help the investigation any way they can.
The site is in the process of being sold by Castaic FCG to Los Angeles County for construction of a new library site there.
Williams is asking anyone with information to call her at 661-255-7707.
