Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested their suspect in an incident of domestic violence that turned deadly.
The public’s help was part of the reason why deputies were able to find and detain their suspect for questioning, according to a sergeant with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“He’s in custody,” said Sgt. Rich Nagler of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Dubon was found around 4 p.m., getting into a vehicle on Santa Clara Road, Nagler said.
Detectives have learned that the suspect, 31-year-old Dubon, arrived home intoxicated and began to argue with his parents at their home on the 19000 block of Newhouse Street in Canyon Country on Thursday night.
He produced a gun and shot his father in the head, according to a Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives.
The incident occurred Thursday at approximately 11:47 p.m. in Canyon Country.
The weapon used in the crime has not yet been recovered by Sheriff’s Station deputies, according to previous reports.
He was booked and being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“We got information that he was over in the Canyon Country area,” Nagler said. “And when we got over there, we found him and detained him.”
Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station sought public assistance in locating Juan Alexander Mejia Dubon, pictured, with a Sheriff’s Department, on Friday afternoon.
“(Dubon) is a person of interest,” Harris said, describing him as a Hispanic man, 5 feet, 2 inches tall, approximately 117 pounds.
