Canyon Country Elementary School Promotes Careers in Ecology

For students at Rio Vista Elementary School in Canyon Country, protecting the environment became a potential future career as students and teachers participated in Eco Career Day on March 28.

The full day event consisted of twenty-two presenters including representatives from Santa Clarita Urban Forestry. During the day, students went room to room to learn about protecting our planet and jobs in the environmental science fields.

“This was a great opportunity for our student body to learn about ecology, sustainability, recycling, and environmental career opportunities,” said 5th grade Rio Vista teacher Kyle Evans, who helped coordinate the event.

Rio Vista Elementary is an 800 student elementary school in the Saugus Union School District, and one of three California Distinguished Schools in Santa Clarita. It hosts Eco Career Day as an annual event.
