Cook was a passenger in a car that hit a big-rig around 4 a.m. Saturday.

The alleged driver of Cook’s car, Eddie Camargo, is suspected of driving under the influence.

Cook wasn’t killed in the crash, but was hit by another vehicle after exiting his car. The driver of the vehicle that killed Cook has yet to be found, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Attendees gather around candles placed in memory of Cook

The vigil, organized through social media, gathered around 7 p.m. The mood was somber, with few people talking as they passed out candles to honor Cook

After about 30 minutes, a group of attendees moved towards the fence at the end of the park to place their lit candles together. The rest of the vigil followed and paid their respects to Cook by placing their candles alongside the others.

An attendee brought his truck up onto the grass behind the basketball courts to bring music to the vigil and people began to share stories and memories of Cook.

Cook’s brother was in attendance.

At 8 p.m., an attendee read two letters from separate people mourning Cook’s loss and sharing their memories of him.

Friends said words to honor Cook and a collective yell of “Three, two, one, we love you Blake,” ended the announcements.

Anyone who has any information regarding the crash or the identity of the driver who killed Cook is urged to call the Altadena CHP office at 626-296-8100.
