The California Department of Transportation has announced a new ramp closures on the Interstate 5 between Vista Del Lago Road and the Kern County line, as part of their slab replacement project.

In an attempt to improve road quality on the Interstate 5, the California Department of Transportation is replacing slabs.
“This $100.1 million project, which will be completed in mid-2015, will extend the life of the pavement, reduce maintenance costs and closures, and provide a smoother ride for motorists,” according to a Caltrans press release.slabs in both directions between Vista Del Lago Rd. near Pyramid Lake and Kern County.
Ramp Closures/Openings/Detours

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, the southbound Vista Del Lago Rd. off-ramp opened.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, the southbound Vista Del Lago Rd. on-ramp will open at 10 a.m.

On Friday, Nov. 15, the southbound Smokey Bear Road off-ramp will close at 1 a.m.

On Saturday, Nov. 16, the same off-ramp will reopen at 11:30 a.m.
While the Smokey Bear off-ramp is closed, the Vista Del Lago ramp can be used as a detour.
Detours will be posted. Electronic message signs on the freeway will alert motorists to the ramp closures well in advance.
