Providence Health & Services Southern California has been serving the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys for more than 70 years, providing a full spectrum of care.

Providence St. Joseph Medical Center was founded in 1943 and is one of the largest employers in the San Fernando Valley. In 1961, Holy Cross Medical Center was founded by the Sisters of the Holy Cross and added the Providence name in 1996. The Providence family is dedicated to quality and compassionate care and building for the future.

The inductees will be recognized at VICA’s Business Hall of Fame Dinner on June 12 (5:30-9:30 p.m.) at the Sheraton Universal Hotel, 333 Universal Hollywood Drive, Universal City

“VICA is pleased to be celebrating the achievement that each inductee has shown for decades in this community,” said VICA Chair Coby King.

Ben Bair moved from Missouri to California in the late 1940s and opened a BBQ shack in Newhall. Over the next several years his food became so popular he relocated to the northern San Fernando Valley.

His unusual vinegar-based coleslaw and sweet barbecue bean recipe became the backbone of his menu. The Bear Pit grew with the valley, and was purchased in the 60s by the Gordon Family. As the San Fernando Valley grew from being an agricultural community to a major city, the Bear Pit grew along with it. In 1976, they sold the restaurant to the Schatz family and now second-generation owner Andrew Schatz continues the tradition of great BBQ.

Originally located near downtown Los Angeles, Bobrick was incorporated in 1906 as Bobrick Chemical Company.

It wasn’t until 1970, after going through a couple more name changes, that it finally adopted the name Bobrick Washroom Equipment, Inc. It has been a global washroom accessory and partition company, headquartered in North Hollywood for over 100 years. Bobrick is a leader in product innovation and manufacturing. It prides itself as a company that delivers best-in-class services, all while fostering an environment of continuous learning for its employees.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, New Horizons empowers individuals with developmental disabilities to fulfill their dreams through partnerships, community education and advocacy. They provide services and support each year to nearly 1,000 individuals—18 and older—and social and recreational services to nearly 3,000 individuals.

Norman’s Rare Guitars buys and sells the world’s finest collectable, vintage and professional quality guitars to the top names in the music industry. Founded in 1975, Norman’s seeks out the finest guitars possible, to give the professional guitarist an opportunity to see and play instruments they wouldn’t find in chain stores. The company’s clientele is the who’s who of the music industry: from Bob Dylan to George Harrison to Tom Petty to current stars like Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake.
