The fire was first reported at 1:20 p.m. on Interstate 5. The fire was declared “knocked down” at 2:56 p.m.

“We’re working it with L.A. City and Angeles National Forest,” said Capt. Tom Richards of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, shortly after the incident was first reported.

Super Scooper aircrafts assisted in the effort. The fire was a second-alarm response, Richards said.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station units and California Highway Patrol officers helped with traffic control because the fire was stopped northbound traffic on Interstate 5, near the Highway 14 interchange.

The fire was initially reported at the center divider of Interstate 5, and the incident then jumped the divider and is burning at three different 7-acre spots on the northbound side, Richards said.
