Los Angeles County Sheriff’s, Fire and California Highway Patrol officials are on the scene.
California Highway Patrol officials are handling the investigation of the scene, according to officials.
“We got the call about an incident that happened last night, possibly in the early morning hours,” said Inspector Scott Miller of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“We got the call at 7:12 a.m. (Friday),” Miller said, adding the incident took place off of the Rush Canyon Truck Trail, near West Sierra Highway.
The truck apparently was “off-roading,” and when the driver lost control and went down the steep embankment, officials said.
Two passengers, both 19-year-old men from Burbank, were airlifted to area hospitals, one with life-threatening injuries and another with minor injuries. They were wearing seatbelts, according to the CHP report.
The three victims who were killed — two men and a woman from Burbank, were all 19, and declared dead at the scene of the crash.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue Team helped officials with the Coroner’s Office recover the bodies.
“There was a 2001 (red) Chevy pickup truck that overturned itself in the Rowher Flats area,” said Officer Lutz of CHP.
“We have two who were airlifted out for injuries,” Lutz said. “The Coroner’s Office has been notified.”
Drugs and alcohol have not been eliminated as a contributing factor in the crash at this time, the CHP report stated.
No other information about the status of those involved, including their identities, was available at this time, Lutz said.
Officer Cookston of the California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
