He will be joined by the Contractors State License Board to present this free seminar for seniors, their family, and caregivers.
“Financial abuse and scam perpetrated against seniors costs them 3 billion dollars nationwide every year,” said Sandra Kramer, press aide of Fox.
There are many reasons seniors are more vulnerable to financial abuse and fraud. The number of crimes against seniors is expected to increase as baby boomers age.
“The reason we put on the Senior Scam Stopper event is to educate seniors about some of the most frequent scams including home insurance ,home repair, health insurance, other financial abuses from family members,’ Kramer said.
But, seniors can fight back with information. Seniors can learn from experts about common types of fraud such as home repair, health, insurance, identity theft, and telephone scams. Learn about the steps you can take to stop criminals before you become a statistic.
“This is an opportunity to teach people and protect seniors. This is the first one that mr foxes team has put on and if this does well we would like to put on more,” Kramer said.
