Juno Wilson, 22, of Canyon Country has been performing in school bands since fifth grade.
He currently attends California Polytechnic University, Pomona where he began his studies as a mechanical engineer, hoping to work in the field of car design.
“I like engineering but it was too much of a workload,” Wilson said. “I decided to change my major to music education and here I am.”

Wilson has played the saxaphone for years, but never knew that he could sing.
One day, Wilson was in the car and singing to a Sinatra song.
“I thought to myself, ‘Do people usually sing like that,'” Wilson said. “So I decided to try it out in front of other people.”
He tried singing with the Jazz Combo at Cal Poly Pomona “which worked out well.”
Wilson eventually made his way into the university’s main jazz band and has performed at the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival.

“The main goal is to be this rich and famous singer,” he said. “I have a backup plan which is to be a public school music teacher or something like that. I guess we’ll see what happens.”
Wilson said when he made the career change, his family supported him.
“At first when I switched from engineering to music, she really wasn’t happy about that,” Wilson said. “I still like engineering and I’ve been thinking a lot about getting back to it. It’s still a toss up between singing and engineering.”
Music lovers can listen to and purchase Wilson’s music on iTunes and Youtube page.
