Internationally inspired dishes and a pastry pavilion filled with a myriad of confections are among the tastes offered, according to chef Jesse Sanchez, a culinary instructor at Mission College. Admission is $65.

This year, the selections offered at the festival will be inspired by the students’ preferences, Sanchez said.

“What’s inspiring the students this year is their own global melting pot and the foods they love or even grew up with,” Sanchez said.  “Los Angeles is a cultural center of the universe, and this will be reflected in the kinds of dishes created for this year’s Springfest Cuisines of the World.”

New to this year’s event, a wine tasting that features winemaker Don Felipe from California’s Central Coast.

Guests will have the rare opportunity to taste with him, the completeportfolio of his award winning Feliz Noche Wines including: 2006 Syrah; 2009 Riesling; 2012 Rose of Grenache; 2012 Chardonnay; 2006 Syrah; and many others.

LA Mission College Culinary Arts Building is located at 13356 Eldridge Ave., in Sylmar.

Guests can purchase an all-inclusive ticket for a $65 tax-deductible donation and must be 18 years of age or older.

“This fine wine and cuisine pairing will give guests a more exciting, enriching culinary experience at this year’s Springfest,” Sanchez said. “And (Felipe), is much more than just an extraordinary winemaker. He’s worked the fields and expertly managed the vineyards his entire life, so he understands the land, giving him an unprecedented knowledge of California terroir. That passion is reflected in the quality of his wines.”

In addition to a food and wine experience, the Culinary Arts Building will be transformed into a decadent Mediterranean holiday setting where guests can mingle with the festive, gregarious Romans, according to a news release.
