L.A. SummerFest At Rivendale Invites Local Authors To Perform

The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival is looking for local music and theater performers to join the 2014 L.A. SummerFest at Rivendale. This year's month-long event has grown from annual Shakespeare in the Park performances.

The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival’s L.A. SummerFest at Rivendale is still nearly six months away, but festival organizers are already looking for local performing groups that want to be part of the month-long event.

Last year, SCSF reimagined its annual summer performances as the L.A. SummerFest at Rivendale to focus on a wider range of performers and art, including musical theater, opera, and jazz and rock music.

The inaugural SummerFest included performances by theTRIBE Productions, SCV Concert Band and SpareTime Jazz, in addition to SCSF.

“It was a wonderful, eclectic summer last year” said David Stears, executive director for the Shakespeare Festival and producer of the SummerFest. “This summer we are looking some exciting possibilities: Latin music and dance, an evening of praise rock and music, a blues evening, musical theatre and some classic opera--all in the wonderful setting at Rivendale.”

This year, the festival will run from Saturday, July 12 until Sunday, Aug. 10.

The stage, lighting and sound will all be provided for all performers, and anyone interested can contact SCSF at info@scshakespearefest.org.
