Annual City of Santa Clarita Youth Sports & Healthy Families Festival

Santa Clarita city officials would like to help promote healthier lifestyles and provide quality, affordable recreation opportunities for residents of all ages.

Residents are welcomed to attend the Santa Clarita Valley to the Youth Sports and Healthy Families Festival on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The free family-friendly event is meant to encourage Santa Clarita residents to try new sports, learn healthy eating tips and get inspired to be more active in their daily lives, according to a city news release.

The Youth Sports and Healthy Families Festival offers a one-stop-shop for residents to try out a variety of new sports, learn healthy eating tips, stay active and have fun while doing so.

The festival offers more than 20 different sports for attendees to try, including baseball, soccer, cheerleading, fencing, golf, rock climbing, sand volleyball, Kayaking, Innertube water polo, snorkeling and more.

Thousands of Santa Clarita residents, representatives from the Lancaster Jethawks, Whole Foods Market and dozens of local athletic organizations including MyGym, Hoop Dance, Gym Cheer, Waller’s Gym, TK Tae Kwon Do, Hawaiian Dance, Star Dance, and Shin’s Family Martial Arts Center will be at the event to provide more information about joining their programs to have a fit and healthy lifestyle.

The festival’s Healthy Families Experience, sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, will feature activities such as Explore the Store! and Create Your Plate! from Whole Foods Market to show families how to make healthier meals.

Also, activities sponsored by MyGym will be available for younger kids. The festival will also feature a raffle for fun prizes, with all proceeds benefitting the City’s S.C.O.R.E. program, which stands for Supporting Children’s Opportunities in Recreational Events.
The festival will be held at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex, located at 20870 Centre Pointe Parkway.
