The Bonzai Pipelines are designed for speed and thrills, with riders starting in closed capsules that fill with water before the floor drops out, launching the rider into a tube, Sue Carpenter, spokeswoman for Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, said.
“The first slide is straight down,” Carpenter said. “The second slide twists around and the riders of both slides end up in a catch pool. The unique thing is the capsule launch.”
Carpenter said the straight drop ride lasts for about 10 seconds, while the twisting slide continues for approximately 30 seconds. The two slides are located on Taboo Tower.

We are very excited to share the opening of the water park and all of our attractions with the SCV Special Olympics athletes.”

The first movie of the season, Jaws, will begin at 6 pm on Monday. The water park has several new features, in addition to the Bonzai Pipelines, including Dive-in movies; the Crows Nest, a new food location near the wave pool; an enlarged Cabana Cove area and Pirates Paradise, an area for live island music which will feature different bands throughout the summer, Carpenter said.Although the first official launch will occur on Monday, Saturday is opening day at Hurricane Harbor for the 2014 season.
