    Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys received the final green light from Santa Clarita City Council members Tuesday night to build its 87-home Habitat “Enriched” Neighborhood for veterans and their families.

    Santa Clarita Valley Sewer Officials OK Rate Hike

    Santa Clarita Valley sewer officials approved a rate hike for local ratepayers Monday as what officials called the most “cost-effective solution” to solve a state-mandated chloride limit. The state’s Regional Water Quality Control Board set a limit for the amount of chloride, or salt, that can be in the water sent from local treatment plants to downstream users in Ventura County. “Theres nothing here that I’m comfortable with, but I will say this -- there is no choice,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste, who holds one of three spots on the county board that approved the rate hike, at Monday's hearing. “There is no choice but to find a way to get the lowest cost to the ratepayer.”

    Santa Clarita Valley Sewer Rate Hike Expected To Be OK'dTonight

    Santa Clarita Valley sewer officials are expected to approve a sewer rate hike tonight at Santa Clarita City Hall. The rate hike is to pay for wastewater treatment needed due to a much-debated state-mandated chloride level in the water discharged downstream to Ventura County by the Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District.

    Santa Clarita Planners OK Senior Living Home, Cellphone Facilities

    Santa Clarita planners approved four items for the city’s future at the Planning Commission meeting this week, including two cellphone facilities, a second-hand store and a senior-living facility. All items were approved on a 4-0 vote, with Commissioner Tim Burkhart absent. The Oakmont of Santa Clarita is expected to be located south of Newhall Ranch Road, between West Rye Canyon Road and Vanderbilt Way, in Santa Clarita.
