Santa Clarita Marathon Set For Sunday

Full marathon a qualifier for Boston race; four courses feature activity for all ages.

It’s marathon weekend in Santa Clarita and the fun begins
Saturday with a Health and Fitness Expo at the Hyatt Valencia. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
the expo will feature dozens of health-related vendors and information booths. Also
at the event, runners can sign up for events and race participants can pick up
their race bibs and T-shirts.

 

The marathon itself, a qualifier for the Boston Marathon,
includes a full marathon, a half-marathon, a 5K run-walk and a Kid K run. All
races begin at 7 a.m. except for the
Kid K, which begins at 8:30 a.m.

 

The full- and half-marathons take off from

McBean
Parkway

between the Hyatt Valencia and the Westfield
TownCenter,
following a revised looped course for 26.2 miles or roadways, paved city trails
and paseos to the finish line at the Westfield
ValenciaTownCenter.
The half-marathon follows the same course until mile 12, where runners will
break away and head toward the finish line.

 

The 5K run-walk is a looped 3.1 mile course that starts and
ends at the mall and is suitable for all ages. The Kid K Fun Run is a
non-competitive run for ages 12 and under along a quarter-mile course on mall
property.  Parents may accompany small
children.

Runners should use Magic
Mountain exit and be at the
start line well before 7:00 AM for the
start of the race.  The start line is cleaned up and chip pads are removed
at 7:02 AM. The Marathon Half and 5K
start promptly at 7:00 AM!

 

The following roads will be closed or have traffic impacted.
