A Facebook event that went viral inviting people to “ride down” the Los Angeles Aqueduct Cascades has attracted many people’s attention, but officials are warning the public of the dangers involved with such a stunt.

Despite the Facebook event, titled “Meet up and ride the giant water slide in Los Angeles,” only being a prank, officials with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power advises doing such a stunt could lead to death.

“Entering the Aqueduct Cascades would at a minimum lead to serious injury and more likely death by blunt force trauma or drowning or both,” said Deborah Hong, a spokesperson for the DWP. “The L.A. Aqueduct is a fast-moving waterway and these words of caution are no joke.”

This event was started by Logan Smith on Tuesday, and within only a few days it has reached over 5,000 Facebook users, according to the event page.

“Take one look at this photo and you’ll understand why characterizing it as a “slide” couldn’t be further from the truth,” Hong said.

This Facebook event prank comes at the heels of the viral, “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us,” which has garnered millions of respondents.

The local event, set for Oct. 31, even pays homage to the Area 51 inspiration.

“Let’s meet up and ride the forbidden water slide, line is shorter than six flags, don’t forget sunscreen,” the event said. “Please bring a helmet for you and your pet alien.”

  1. Fuggin’ Logan. ??‍♂️

  2. While free speech is one thing, this is conspiracy to commit a crime (trespass) and to convince people into an unsafe act.
You would think that the individual could be held responsible for that, civilly in no criminally.

  3. How utterly stupid can someone be. If you have ever seen it dry, those aerators are huge concrete blocks that the water cascades over. This would chew a person up in seconds.

  4. Decisions have consequences. And if you are dumb enough to hop into the LA waterslide, while I will mourn you, I won’t legislate because of you.

  5. An utterly rediculous thought, let alone execution. Try this and it WILL kill you! But not before inflicting substantial, horrific pain. You’d have a better chance at going over Niagra Falls in a barrel.

    • I DO THAT ALL THE TIME TOO !!! fake media trying to portray that we are in any kind of DANGER. you are only going to die because the MEDIA convinced you. REsearch Quantom Immortality and you;ll see what i mean. Death is sold and made to STOP US from REACHING GOD

  6. nah i do this all the time, the media doesn’t want you to know it’s impossible to die from a WATER slide cause it has WATER in it, stupid media clowns. I slide down this slide with my six children at least 6 times a week, and nothing has happened. Stop the false reporting.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
