West Ranch Softball Team Pounds Golden Valley, Improves To 4-0

The West Ranch softball team beat Golden Valley, 11-1, and improved to 4-0 in the Foothill League. The Wildcats scored four runs in the first inning and collected 19 hits in the game.

Keeley Walsh went 4-for-4 with a home run and drove in four runs. Lauren Lombardi had three hits and drove in two runs.

West Ranch has won seven games in a row.

The Hart softball team shut out Valencia 1-0 and knocked the Vikings out of first place in the Foothill League standings.

Katie Reed pitched a six-hitter and struck out six. Jenae Coleman hit a solo home run for Hart’s only run.

Valencia lost its first Foothill League game of the season and dropped to 3-1.

The Saugus softball team beat Canyon, 3-2. Both teams scored two runs in the first inning. Kaela Morrow broke the 2-2 tie for Saugus with a solo home run in the fifth inning.

In high school volleyball, the Hart boys swept Saugus in three games. Hart is 5-2 and in second place in the Foothill League. Saugus dropped to 4-3 in league.

In high school tennis, the Valencia boys beat Canyon, 18-0, to remain undefeated in the Foothill League. The Vikings have won 69 Foothill League matches in a row.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets, 2-1. Kyle Clifford and Drew Doughty each scored a goal for the Kings.

In baseball, the Dodgers are in Baltimore for a game against the Orioles today. The Dodgers are looking to snap a four-game losing streak.

Hyun-Jin Ryu gets the start for the Dodgers. Jason Hammel is the on the hill for the Orioles.
