The West Ranch softball team beat Alemany 10-2 and even its record at 4-4. The Wildcats scored six runs in the fourth inning to take an 8-0 lead in the game.
Kylie Sorenson had three hits, a home run and a double, and drove in three runs. Lauren Lombardi hit a home run and drove in four runs.
West Ranch has won three of its past four games.
The Hart softball team shut out Chaminade, 2-0. Katie Reed threw a four-hitter with seven strikeouts for Hart.
The Trinity Classical Academy softball team lost to Heritage Christian, 18-3.
In high school golf, West Ranch beat Granada Hills by 24 strokes in a match at Encino Golf Course.
Joey Downey shot the low round of the day, a 1-over 73.
In high school ice hockey, Valencia beat Canyon, 10-1, in the season opener of the Ice Station Valencia league.
Adam Tybor scored a hat trick for Valencia.
The Saugus ice hockey team beat Burbank, 5-4. Garrett Foster scored three goals and had an assist for Saugus.
The Hart hockey team lost to Bakersfield, 3-2.
In college baseball, The Master’s College beat Doane from Nebraska, 13-11. Doane scored five runs in the eighth inning to cut The Master’s College’s lead to one run.
Jonathan Popadics was 2-for-4 with a double, scored three runs and drove in a run.
In spring training, the Dodgers beat the Oakland A’s, 7-1. The Dodgers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Yasiel Puig was 4-for-4 with a two-run home run and a triple for the Dodgers.
In the NBA, the Clippers lost to the Sacramento Kings, 116-101. The Kings outscored the Clippers by 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Chris Paul scored 11 points and had 15 assists in the loss.
In the NHL, the Kings beat the visiting Phoenix Coyotes, 3-2, and Drew Doughty scored his first goal of the season.
It was the second time in as many nights that the Kings beat the Coyotes. Next up for the Kings are the Dallas Stars on Thursday night.
