Valencia Girls Soccer Team Ranked No. 6 In CIF Preseason Poll

The Valencia girls soccer team is ranked No. 6 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 preseason poll.

Long Beach Wilson is the No. 1 ranked team in the Southern Section Division 2 poll.

The Valencia girls soccer team went 16-2-6 and won the Foothill League championship with an 8-0-2 record last season. The Vikings went on to the quarterfinals of the Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls soccer team is ranked No. 10 in the Southern Section Division 7 preseason poll. Marshall is the No. 1 team in Division 7.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls were 13-3-3 and won the Omega League championship with an undefeated 6-0 record last season.

The Valencia boys soccer team is ranked No. 10 in the Southern Section Division 4 preseason poll. Ontario is the top-ranked team in Division 4.

In college basketball, The Master’s College men lost to Claremont, 68-56. Zach Stalin scored 20 points for The Master’s College. The Mustangs dropped to 3-2.

In high school cross country, five teams from the Foothill League will compete in the CIF Southern Section finals at Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday.

The Saugus girls, the Foothill League champions, won their heat race in the Division 2 preliminaries at Mt. SAC.

The Valencia, Canyon and West Ranch girls also qualified for the Southern Section Finals at Mt. SAC. Canyon will compete with Saugus in the Division 2 race.

West Ranch and Valencia will compete in the Division 1 race.

The Saugus boys team qualified for the Southern Section Finals in Division 2. Brian Zabilski won his heat race and was one of five runners from Saugus in the top nine in their heat.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, 5-2. The Kings scored three goals in the second period. Justin Williams scored his eighth goal of the season.

Next up for the Kings are the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night at Staples Center.
