The Valencia football team pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the Foothill League.
The Vikings erased a 22-point, second-half deficit and beat Canyon, 35-28. Valencia scored 29 unanswered points in the second half and improved to 3-0 in the Foothill League.
Canyon, meanwhile, lost its first Foothill League game and dropped to 2-1.
Canyon led 28-6 in the third quarter before Valencia started its comeback.
Valencia receiver Nick Jones scored the game-winning touchdown on a 98-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
In other action in the Foothill League, the Hart football team beat Saugus, 38-3, and improved to 8-0.
Receiver Davis Koppenhaver caught two touchdown passes and had 122 yards on eight receptions.
The Indians, the No. 1 ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division, faces Valencia on Friday night.
The West Ranch football team won its first Foothill League game of the season, 31-0, over Golden Valley.
Wildcats quarterback Chase Killingsworth threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Christian Parrish gained 62 yards and scored a touchdown.
The Santa Clarita Christian football team lost to Capistrano Valley Christian, 36-33, in a San Joaquin League game.
The Cardinals led, 19-15 at halftime, but Capistrano Valley scored three touchdowns in the second half to win the game.
The Trinity Classical Academy football team crushed Bloomington, 71-7, in a Heritage League game.
Spencer Klehn scored five touchdowns, four in the first quarter. Trinity was up 58-0 at halftime.
In auto racing, Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield on Saturday night.
It was his fifth win of the season and the 18th of his K&N Pro Series West career.
Eric Richardson won the NASCAR Citgo Late Models race at Kern County. Chris Dalton won the NASCAR Spec-Mods race and track championship.
In baseball, the Boston Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-2, in Game 4 of the World Series. The series is tied, 2-2. Game 5 is in St. Louis tonight.
In hockey, the Kings beat the visiting Edmonton Oilers, 2-1, in a shootout. Mike Richards scored a goal in the second period to tie the score, 1-1. Anze Kopitar scored the game-winner in the shootout.
The Kings are off to Phoenix for a game against the Coyotes on Tuesday night.
