The Master’s College Women’s Volleyball Team Sweeps West Coast Baptist

The Master’s College women’s volleyball team, ranked No. 11 in the NAIA, swept West Coast Baptist in three games.

Ashley Newton led the Lady Mustangs with 10 kills. Stacey Jones had eight digs and five kills.

The Master’s College improved to 16-4 on the season.

In soccer, The Master’s College men lost to Westmont, 2-1, in overtime.

Jorge Serrano scored for The Master’s College in the 55th minute to tie the score, 1-1. Valencia High graduate Zach Klindworth assisted on the goal.

Westmont scored the game-winning goal in the 96th minute.

The Master’s College women’s soccer team is ranked No. 15 in the recently released NAIA poll. The Lady Mustangs play Westmont, the third-ranked team in the NAIA, today.

In golf, The Master’s College men finished in second place in the Cal State San Marcos Fall Classic. The Mustangs shot 883 as a team and were 19-over in the three-round tournament.

Thane Ringler shot the low score for The Master’s College. He finished in a tie for fourth place with a 2-under 214.

The University of Redlands won the Fall Classic with a team score of 853, 30 strokes better than The Master’s College.

In baseball, the Dodgers signed Cuban infielder Alexander Guerrero to a reported four-year, $28 million deal.

He was an all star in Cuba’s top league in 2010 and 2011. Guerrero can play second base and shortstop.

In other moves, the Dodgers dismissed bench coach Trey Hillman, but picked up the options on pitching coach Rick Honeycutt, third-base coach Tim Wallach and first-base coach Davey Lopes.
