Hart Rising Fast In Valley Invitational Baseball League

The Hart baseball team went 4-1 in the Valley Invitational Baseball League last week and is in third place. The Indians are 11-5 through the first six weeks of the summer baseball league.

Hart is coming off a 12-10 win over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame over the weekend. The Indians also beat Burbank, Camarillo and Crespi last week.

The Saugus baseball team is in fourth place at 9-4. The Canyon baseball team is in seventh place at 5-5.

In soccer, the Santa Clarita Storm men’s team tied the San Diego Flash, 1-1, and was knocked out of the National Premier Soccer League playoffs.

The Storm needed a win in the regular season finale to qualify for playoffs. They took a 1-0 lead, but couldn’t hold it.

The Storm finishes the season with a 7-3-4 record and in third place in the West Region Southern Division standings.

In baseball, the Dodgers needed extra innings, but beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-5, and completed the sweep in the desert.

Hanley Ramirez and AJ Ellis hit back-to-back solo home runs in the 14th inning to take the lead. Ramirez went 3-for-6, drove in three runs and raised his batting average to .409.

Yasiel Puig went 1-for-7 and scored a run. His batting average dropped below .400 for the first time this season. He is hitting .394.

The Dodgers are 1 ½ games behind the National League West leading Diamondbacks after the sweep.

The Dodgers head home to start a weekend series against the Colorado Rockies tonight.
