Hart Football Team Stomps Ridgeview From Bakersfield, 56-7

The Hart football team put a whooping on Ridgeview from Bakersfield, 56-7, and won its third game in a row to open the season.

Hart quarterback Brady White threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns. He has thrown 14 touchdowns in three games without an interception.

Hart led 42-0 at halftime. Connor Wingenroth rushed for 98 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Hart coach Mike Herrington was honored for winning the 250th game of his career. The milestone victory came against Chaminade, in an overtime thriller, two weeks ago. Hart’s win over Ridgeview was the 251st of Herrington’s career.

In other high school football action, Canyon rolled to a 55-14 win over Quartz Hill. Running back Myron McAfee rushed for 175 yards on 10 carries and scored two touchdowns.

The Valencia football team rallied for a 34-19 win over Righetti in Santa Maria. The Vikings were down 13-0 before rattling off 34 unanswered points to win the game.

Jay Jay Wilson broke a 13-13 tie with a touchdown catch in the third quarter.

The Saugus football team erased a 10-0 deficit to beat Ventura, 20-17.

Saugus quarterback Chris Hamilton threw three touchdown passes.

The West Ranch football team lost for the first time this season, 20-9, to Thousand Oaks.

The Wildcats had a 9-7 lead in the third quarter, but Thousand Oaks scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to win the game.

The Trinity football team beat Lancaster Baptist, 51-13, in the Heritage League opener. The Knights scored 43 points in the second half.

Patch Kulp gained 146 yards on 21 carries and scored a touchdown for Trinity.

The Albert Einstein Academy football team lost a heartbreaker, 21-20, to Calvary Chapel in Downey.

Einstein led 20-15 in the fourth quarter, but Calvary Chapel scored the go-ahead touchdown with six minutes to play in the game.

The College of the Canyons football team shut out Desert, 17-0. It was the first time COC shut out an opponent in seven years.

In auto racing, Tim Smith won both NASCAR Pro Late Model races at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield. He is the first repeat winner in the Pro Late Models at the track with three victories.

Tim Esmay won the NASCAR Spec-Mods race.

In baseball, the Dodgers shut out the San Diego Padres, 1-0. Zach Greinke and three relievers combined on a two-hitter against the Padres.
