Hart Football Team Sets School Records In Win Over Santiago

The Hart football team won its season opener against Santiago from Corona in record-setting fashion.

Hart recorded a school record 669 yards from scrimmage in its 56-49 win over Santiago. Hart quarterback Brady White completed a school record 36 passes for 472 yards and three touchdowns in the win on Friday night.

The Golden Valley football team beat Granada Hills, 34-28, and snapped a 17-game losing streak.

Demetri Mansori scored two touchdowns, one on an interception return.

The Canyon football team won its opener, 23-16, over an undermanned Westlake team. The Canyon defense intercepted five passes and returned two for touchdowns.

The West Ranch football team shut out Hawthorne, 56-0, to win its season opener.

The Saugus football team beat Calabasas, 51-14, behind a 249-yard rushing night from Reid Rupe. He scored three touchdowns in the rout.

The Santa Clarita Christian football team lost its opener, 26-14, against Chadwick at Canyon High School.

In auto racing, Ross Strmiska won the NASCAR Pro Late Model race at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield. He is the eighth different winner in the Pro Late Model division at the track.

David Mayhew won the NASCAR Citgo Late Models race, his 13th of the season and fifth in a row.

In baseball, the Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies, 10-8, and won their fifth game in a row.

Clayton Kershaw wasn’t sharp, but won his 14th game. Andre Ethier hit his 11th home run and drove in three runs.

The Dodgers and Rockies continue their series in Colorado tonight. Listen to the game on AM 1220, KHTS. First pitch is at 5:40.
