Hart Baseball Team Beats First-Place West Ranch

The Hart baseball team knocked off first-place West Ranch, 3-2, in a Foothill League game at Hart High.

Chad Haslock took a no-hitter into the seventh inning against West Ranch. He gave up a leadoff single and loaded the bases in the seventh inning. But the Indians held on to win the game.

Haslock also hit a run-scoring double to give Hart a 3-0 lead in the sixth inning.

The Canyon baseball team beat Golden Valley, 13-2, and moved back into a first-place tie with West Ranch in the Foothill League.

Vinny Fitzgerald drove in four runs and was 2-for-3 for Canyon. West Ranch and Canyon have 8-4 records in the Foothill League.

The Saugus baseball team beat Valencia, 3-2. The Centurions are in second place, a game behind Canyon and West Ranch.

In high school volleyball, West Ranch beat Valencia in four games and improved to 10-0 in the Foothill League.

Andrew Dieterle had 17 kills for West Ranch. Valencia dropped to 5-5 in Foothill League play and is in fourth place. The Vikings are in jeopardy of missing the CIF playoffs for the first time since 1998.

The Hart boys volleyball team swept Canyon in three games. The Indians are 7-3 and in second place in the Foothill League.

The Saugus boys volleyball team swept Golden Valley in three games. The Centurions are 6-4 and the third place team in the Foothill League.

In baseball, the Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies, 7-3. Josh Beckett was roughed up again, giving up five runs on five hits in four innings. His record dropped to 0-4.

The Dodgers are off to San Francisco to start a weekend series with the Giants starting on Friday.

In hockey, the Kings are in St. Louis for Game 2 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. The Kings lost to the Blues, 2-1 in overtime, on Tuesday.
