Albert Einstein Academy Basketball Team Off To Hot Start

The Albert Einstein Academy boys basketball team won a double-overtime thriller, 90-89, against Faith Baptist.

Hunter Morris scored the game-winner in the second overtime period. He scored 30 points and had 12 rebounds.

Chris Yin had 22 points and Sahil Rai scored 21.

In high school soccer, the Golden Valley boys beat Lancaster, 2-1, and won their fourth game of the season.

Francisco Perez scored on a penalty kick and Dominic Amara scored on a free kick for the Grizzlies.

In college basketball, The Master’s College women beat Wayland Baptist from Texas, 88-87 in double overtime. Nicole Nitake made a free throw with six seconds left in the second overtime period to give the Lady Mustangs an 88-85 lead.

Jacquelyn Marshall scored 17 points and had 21 rebounds. The Master’s College, ranked No. 12 in the NAIA, improved to 8-3.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In baseball, the Dodgers signed left-handed reliever JP Howell to a two-year contract worth $11.25 million, according to reports on the ESPN Los Angeles website.

Howell had a 2.03 ERA in 62 innings for the Dodgers last season.

In the NBA, the Lakers beat the Memphis Grizzlies, 96-92, and ended their four-game road trip with a 2-2 record.

Kobe Bryant scored 21 points and Nick Young had 18 off the bench. Next up for the Lakers are the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night at Staples Center.

In the NHL, the Kings shut out the Edmonton Oilers, 3-0. Martin Jones made 24 saves and became the first Kings goaltender to win the first six starts of his career.

The Kings have won seven of their past eight games. They play the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night.
