Report On Fatal Bus Crash In Hands of DA

District Attorney to determine whether criminal charges to be filed.

The CHP has completed its investigation of the fatal crash that involved a Santa Clarita Transit bus and presented the report to the LA County District Attorney, who will determine whether criminal charges will be filed.

On January 18, Stevenson Ranch resident Janine M. Doughlin, 25, was driving alone in her Toyota Camry, traveling eastbound on Constitution Avenue. A Santa Clarita Transit bus, driven by 49-year-old David Delape of Rosamond, was traveling southbound on The Old Road and around 8 a.m., the two collided. Doughlin died at the scene.

According to CHP Officer Michelle Esposito, the report was finished Wednesday and presented to the DA on Thursday. She said copies of the report were given to Doughlin’s family as well as Veolia Transportation, which contracts with the city to provide bus drivers. The report is not considered public record until the district attorney determines whether charges will be filed.

District Attorney spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said that the case has been presented, but a decision as to charges being filed will not be made until next week. The City of Santa Clarita is deferring all calls to Veolia’s spokesperson, who did not return a call from KHTS.
