On July 29, 2010, Santa Clarita's very own Chick-fil-A restaurant opened its doors to a frenzied crowd of residents. As an added incentive, the first 100 people in line received free meals for a whole year.
The Deputy Cameron Glover Golf Memorial Open took place on Monday, July 12 at The Valencia Country Club. According to the Los Angeles Police Protective League, there were 72 golfers who came out to support the fallen deputy who was killed in a motorcycle accident April 28.
In the hills above Central Park amateur radio operators took part in a 24 hour competition.
The competition, held from 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 26 to 11:00 a.m. Sunday June 27, pitted amateur radio operators against each other for Amateur Radio Field Day at the Castaic Lake Water Agency above the park.
On Sunday, June 27, The Old Town Newhall Association transported Santa Clarita residents back in time as they hosted the first OTNA Car Show. Families enjoyed a relaxing Sunday, dressed in 1950’s style clothing as they walked down Main Street and looked at all the lustrous automobiles of all ages from Model T’s to modern-day Mustangs. The show was free for participants and spectators.
