    The Church On The Way Children's Christmas Service - December 9, 2012

     

    On Sunday, December 9th, The Church On The Way presented a Christmas program hosted by the children of the congregation.  The theme was "An Unexpected Gift," and it was centered around the birth of Jesus.  Over 80 children performed during the service, ages ranging from toddlers to pre-teens.  The children practiced for months preparing for this service.  The Church On The Way is located in Santa Clarita at 23415 Cinema Drive.

    Grace Baptist Church Candlelight Christmas Concert - December 7-9, 2012

    On December 7th, 8th, and 9th, Grace Baptist Church held their annual Candlelight Christmas Concerts.  The Sanctuary Choir sang accompanied by their live orchestra, called the Praise Orchestra.  The childrens choir also made an appearance.   Pastor David W. Hegg delivered the message for the evening.  The message talked about Christina Rossetti, the woman who wrote the poem that has become the christmas carol In the Bleak Midwinter.  Pastor Hegg talked about how the poem read like her autobiography and how she lived her life through God.     Real Life Church Jingle Jam - December 7, 2012

     

    On Friday, December 7th, Real Life Church hosted their RLK Jingle Jam.  The evening consisted of musical talents, multiple skits, and dance to help share the meaning of Christmas and the story of Christmas.  The themes of the evening were “God gave us the greatest gift.  What will you give?” and “Compassion; caring enough to do something someone else’s needs.”  In addition to the Jingle Jam, there was the Habit food truck, real snow, and a photo booth.  Admission was free to all attendees.  There was also a raffle to win prizes like 4 tickets to Universal Studios, a CPK gift card, and a gift card to the movie theaters.

     

    Power Valencia Hosts Sheriff's Toy Drive At Power Chevrolet - December 5, 2012

     

    On Wednesday, December 5th, Power Chevrolet hosted a kick-off for the Sheriff’s toy drive.  To help kick-off the event various elementary school choirs performed different Christmas songs at half hour intervals.  The collection of toys will be continuing until December 19th.  Gifts can be dropped off at KHTS kiosk at Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall, Power Chevrolet, Power Ford, Power Honda, BMW of Valencia, Travel Leaders, Pico Canyon Elementary School, Adventure Dental, Dr. Zack’s Dental Office, and at Eternal Valley Memorial Park.  Donations will benefit families registered with the SCV Food Pantry and The Child and Family Center.     Action Family Zone Holiday Boutique - December 1, 2012

     

    On Saturday, December 1st, Action Family Zone hosted a holiday boutique.  The event had over 20 different vendors selling a variety of different items such as Scentsys, candles, treats, blankets, holiday items, jewelry, purses, and more. They offered gift wrapping for all of the items.  For the kids there were pictures with Santa, a bounce house, and face painting.  Funds raised and donated went to educational programs for teenagers.  Action Family Zone is a non-profit organization that aims to provide a safe place for teenagers.

    Bouquet Shopping Center Holiday Remote - December 1, 2012

     

    On Saturday, December 1st, the Bouquet Shopping Center hosted a holiday remote from noon til 3pm with the KHTS antique fire truck, kid’s choir performances and plenty of incredible sales. KHTS joined the Bouquet Center to celebrate the holidays with a stash of prizes including San Diego Zoo tickets, restaurants certificates and more.

    Beijo Bags Holiday Warehouse Sale - November 30, 2012

     

    On Friday, November 30th, and Saturday, December 1st, Beijo Bags held a holiday warehouse sale.  Over a hundred different designer bags were on sale at a discounted price.  Beijo Bags are typically sold through house parties, where people are invited to come shop in the comfort of a home.  Beijo Bags offers purses, wallets, belts, sunglasses, and a variety of other fashion accessories.  Beijo Bags fashion consultants sell the items and set up the parties.  Parties can be held nationwide.  Many of the bags at the warehouse sale can still be purchased through a local Beijo fashion consultant.

    Providence Holy Cross Health Center Blood Drive - November 17, 2012

    On Saturday, November 17th, the Providence Blood Mobile came to the Providence Holy Cross Health Center.  The blood mobile comes to the Providence Health Center every 3rd Saturday.  Blood donations took place from 9-11:30 A.M. and then 1-3:00 P.M.  It takes place at McBean Parkway and Valencia Blvd.  Blood donations help save lives everyday across the country.

    COC Flu Shot Clinic - November 16, 2012

     

    On Friday, November 16th, College of the Canyons held its 7th annual free flu shot clinic.  The event was held from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M.  The event was sponsored by the City of Santa Clarita, College of the Canyons, and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.  Over 600 people showed up to be immunized.  The shots were given by the faculty and students from the COC nursing program.

    Veterans Day Ceremony - November 11, 2012

    On Sunday, November 11th, the City of Santa Clarita hosted its annual Veterans Day Ceremony.  The event was held at the Veterans Historical Plaza in Newhall.  Veterans from all branches of the military were honored at the ceremony.  Speakers at the event included: Duane Harte, J.D. Kennedy, Rabbi Blazer, Mayor Frank Ferry, Councilmember Marsha McLean, Master Sgt. Eldonna Fernandez, Councilmember Laurene Weste and others.  A table set for one symbolized the plight of POW's and their families.  JROTC members performed a rifle demonstration.  The Four of Hearts, an a capella group from Hart High School, sang "God Bless the USA" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic."  Heather Kate Duncan sang the "National Anthem" and Gayle La Rone sang "God Bless America."   The Young Marines acted as the Color Guard.
