Smyth Wins, Richman Loses [1]
Results from the California Primary as of 5:13am with all precincts reporting give Republican Cameron Smyth the victory in his quest for the California State Assembly, winning with 80% of the vote. Smyth will face the Democratic candidate Lyn Shaw in the November election.
Republican Assemblyman Keith Richman lost his bid to run for State Treasurer. Richman was defeated by Claude Parrish, who received 56.1% of the vote to Richman's 43.9%. Parrish will face Democratic Candidate, Bill Lockyer.
Both propositions were defeated. The library bond proposition lost 53.2% to 46.8%. The preschool measure was defeated 61% to 39%.
