Diners at the Elephant Bar in Valencia Thursday evening had the opportunity to be served by local sheriff’s deputies and donate to the Special Olympics as part of the national Tip-A-Cop program. “They go around with the waiting staff and bring people food and drinks,” said Elissa Alvey of the Special Olympics. “At the end, people can give a donation, or a tip, if they want. If they donate more than $25 they get a Special Olympics T-shirt.” In Santa Clarita, Tip-A-Cop comes around every spring an fall. “We do this twice a year,” said Deputy Artie Thompson, “as well as the highway patrol and the fire department.
