Hundreds of volunteers fanned out all over the Santa Clarita Valley on Saturday to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors. . .
Hands-on projects were completed in one day by individuals and corporate-sponsored teams that varied from painting to planting and stocking food to stitching table placemats.
Make a Difference Day, which was coordinated locally by the SCV Resource Center, is a national campaign to encourage neighbors to assist neighbors with one day projects.
The SCV Resource Center opened in 1997 to link community service organizations with businesses and residents to serve the community.
After an 8 a.m. breakfast kick-off rally, scores of volunteers radiated out to one of 30 work sites.
Character pledges collected from schools were connected by staples and hung around the Valencia Town Center by children, while volunteers from Dunamis washed cars at the Do-It Center on Valencia Boulevard to raise money for the ATeam.
