A pair of Saugus softball players teamed up to help the OC Batbusters win the 2014 Premier Girls Fastpitch 18-under national championship.
Mariah Lopez and Maddy Jelenicki were on the OC Batbusters team that shut out the Angels, 3-0, in the championship game.

Jelenicki singled and scored a run against the Angels. She drove in two runs in the semifinals against the So Cal Athletics. The OC Batbusters won the game, 5-3.

Lopez pitched a complete game and struck out six in the semifinals.
The So Cal Athletics won four 18-under national championships in a row.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Angels, 5-4, in the second game of the Freeway Series at Dodger Stadium.
Juan Uribe hit a three-run home run. Andre Ethier drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The Freeway Series moves to Angel Stadium tonight. Dan Haren starts for the Dodgers against Matt Shoemaker for the Angels.
