School Board Recount [1]

School board candidate Teresa Todd has requested a recount of ballots from the Nov. 4 election...     Both Todd and Renee Sabol, chair of the Committee to Support Measure B, point to a problem with the county’s new InkaVote system and the potential of votes smearing.
    Two seats were open in the William S. Hart Union High School District and Todd placed third out of five candidates with 17 votes between her and second place candidate Gloria Mercado.
    With almost 17,000 ballots to count in the Hart district, election officials said a total recount could take four to six days to complete at $2,000 per day per board. The cost is picked up by those requesting the recount. 
    Measure B would have provided the Castaic district with approximately $450,000 a year for four years, enabling the district to maintain class-size reduction and music and art programs. The initiative lost by 57 votes.
    Only the Hart and Castaic districts have challenged the vote count for the Nov. 4 election. The Hart district recount will begin on Dec. 8. and the Castaic area should have their results today.
