The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team won the CIF Southern Section Division 6 championship, 77-52, over Desert Chapel.
Sophomore Ian Caddow scored a game-high 37 points, but it was freshman Beau Howell who was the star of the game.
Howell has autism. He entered the game in the final minute and scored the first basket of his career. The Desert Chapel players gave him every opportunity to score his first basket and ended the game with the finest act of sportsmanship.
The basket by Howell was the final two points of the game for Trinity. The Trinity boys won
the first boys basketball CIF championship by a Santa Clarita school in 27 years. The last team to win a CIF championship in boys basketball was Saugus in 1987.
