For those looking to grow a rose garden, it will be time to plant in just a couple of months. Late winter and early spring are the best time to plant roses, and the Santa Clarita Valley Rose Society  is hosting their annual Rose Care Seminar on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014.

The free workshop, hosted by the SCV Senior Center at 2:30 p.m. will feature Master Rosarians and society members Bob and Kitty Belendez.
They will discuss how to properly prune various types of roses, plant bareroot roses, care for roses grown in containers and how to fertilize a rose garden.
Guests will receive a door prize and be entered into a rose raffle.
The annual cost to join the rose society is $20 per family and new members will receive a year’s subscription to the club’s newsletter “Rose Ecstasy” and a 10 percent annual discount card good at Green Thumb Nursery all year.
