One of two men convicted in a series of armed takeover robberies  received multiple life sentences Thursday, according to Shiara Davila-Morales, spokeswoman for the District Attorney’s Office.

Jahrell Hayes and Mark Wise, both 27, of Los Angeles, had significantly different outcomes for their cases.
Wise made a negotiated no contest plea for a 20-year term in state prison back in April.
California’s sentencing guidelines mandate that those convicted of violent crimes must serve 85 percent of their sentence before they are eligible for parole.
Hayes elected for a jury trial, and was found guilty Sept. 30.
Hayes was convicted after two hours of deliberations.
“Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Gelfound (on Thursday) sentenced Jahrell Hayes to six consecutive life terms, plus 182 years in prison,” Davila-Morales stated in an email.
The jury convicted Hayes of six counts of kidnapping for the purpose of robbery; seven counts of kidnapping; 10 counts of second-degree robbery; two counts of false imprisonment by violence; and one count of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
“Jurors additionally found true 23 allegations of personal use of a firearm,” she added.
After an investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s COBRA Unit detectives, the pair were implicated in two armed robberies of a Radio Shack in the San Fernando Valley, one in Palmdale, and another in Valencia.
Deputy District Attorney Jeffrey Greenberg prosecuted the case.
“Wise pleaded no contest on April 9, to three counts of second-degree robbery,” Davila-Morales said. “Wise additionally admitted a prior strike for robbery.”
The case was prosecuted by Jeffrey Greenberg.
