Schroeder, a Valencia resident, led the Los Angeles and Ventura chapter of the Building Industry Association over the past eight years, and previously worked for the state of Oregon.
"I'm familiar with the development process and I'm very familiar with the community leaders of the valley," said Schroeder, a Valencia resident. "And I think that will position me to be strong advocate for the valley and to and help to attract businesses."
Schroeder replaces Jonas Peterson who left in June to take a position in the Las Vegas area. Schroeder will assume the CEO position on Sept. 9.
“We are pleased that Holly will lead our dynamic group,” said Don Fleming, co-chair of the SCVEDC. "Holly’s management and executive expertise will help grow the SCVEDC as an organization. Additionally, her intimate knowledge of the Santa Clarita Valley and Southern California business environment and the issues we face will let her hit the ground running as we focus on growing our local job base. Interestingly, the SCVEDC Board conducted a nationwide search for this position; it is exciting that our final choice is a local resident with an outstanding business reputation and proven track record,” he said.
The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation, a public-private partnership, was established three years ago and has quickly emerged as one of California’s most productive economic development organizations.
"I want to continue to build in the very strong foundation that's been laid in the (SCVEDC)’s first few years of existence," Schroeder said, adding that aerospace, biomedical, film and advanced manufacturing would continue to be focus areas for growth and expansion in the Santa Clarita Valley.
SCVEDC is dedicated to attracting new companies, promoting job creation and bolstering the overall economic vitality of the region by encouraging business and industry to relocate to, remain in and grow within the Santa Clarita Valley, according to an SCVEDC news release.
The CEO and president leads a diverse economic development corporation, whose current strategic focus areas include the recruitment of targeted industries including: Aerospace and Defense, Medical Devices, Digital Media and Entertainment, Information Technology and Advanced Manufacturing.
Additionally, the SCVEDC focuses on business retention, advocacy, community marketing, economic information and research.
The president works closely with an engaged Board of Directors and partner organizations to achieve goals.
