Santa Clarita Sheriff’s deputies responded to a number of incidents in the Santa Clarita Valley this week, including drunk driving and hit and run. See below for the full stories.

Deputies responded to a near drowning at a community pool in Stevenson Ranch on Saturday . A four-year-old boy was breathing when emergency personnel arrived but was airlifted to the hospital.
Gail Wolfufurlik, 45, was taken to the hospital Saturday for driving drunk  in Valencia. She hit a street sign that fell onto some parked cars, but she was not arrested or charged with DUI.
A hit and run accident left several residents and businesses in Canyon Country without power  Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. The driver knocked over a power pole, causing a transformer to blow and sparking a brush fire. Deputies are still investigating.
Two local men appeared in court this week for murder or attempted murder cases.
Scott Shipley, 56, of Acton, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday  to the charges that he shot and killed Christopher Demyen, 39, in May of this year.
Raymundo Soto, was found not guilty by a jury on Wednesday  on counts of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Soto was accused of attacking Daniel Muir with a knife in February 2012.
The department also celebrated a hero this week. Sheriff Lee Baca and Assistant Sheriff Todd Rogers honored civilian Gregory Lindaman on Tuesday, for saving the life of Capt. Carrie Stuart  after a traffic accident in 2012.

Below are reports from the different Sheriff zone's throughout the SCV.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station divides its coverage into five zones for the Nixle reports. They are listed below alphabetical order.
Here's a summary of incidents that took place in the last week in Santa Clarita (If your zone isn’t listed, keep checking back for updates):
Canyon Country east
This week in Canyon Country-East we had 15 Part-1 crimes. Of those reported crimes, there was 1 aggravated assault, 1 robbery, 3 residential burglaries, 1 commercial burglary, 2 vehicle burglaries, 1 shoplift, 1 grand theft, 1 petty theft and 1 stolen vehicle.
An aggravated assault occurred near the 27300 block of Manzanita Lane. The suspect approached the victim and attacked him while yelling racial slurs. The suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the lower torso. The victim was able to take the knife away from the suspect and the suspect fled out of view. The case is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Station Detectives.
A residential burglary occurred near the 27900 block of Solamint Road. When the victim awoke, she saw the suspect standing in the doorway of her bedroom. The suspect fled the location with electronic items and a small amount of US currency.
Another residential burglary occurred near the 15700 block of Alia Court. An unknown suspect broke into the victim’s house while the family was away on vacation and took several electronic items.
A commercial burglary occurred near the 19100 block of Golden Valley Road. Two suspects shattered a front window in order to gain entry into the location. They took several electronic devices before exiting through a rear emergency door.
A vehicle burglary occurred near Golden Valley Road/Via Princessa. The victim parked her vehicle in a lot before going hiking and when she returned, the front passenger side window was shattered and several personal items were taken from the vehicle.
A shoplift/burglary occurred near the 16500 of Soledad Canyon Road. A male suspect was detained by the store manager after he exited the location, failing to pay for items. The suspect was subsequently arrested by responding deputies.
A Harley Davidson motorcycle was taken near Sand Canyon Road/Placerita Canyon Road. The victim parked his motorcycle in a dirt parking lot approximately one mile south of Placerita Canyon Road prior to going hiking. When he returned, the motorcycle was gone.
Canyon Country west
This past week in Zone 7, the following Part-1 Crimes occurred:
(1) Robbery, (2) Residential Burglaries, (3) Grand Thefts and (3) Shoplift
A strong arm robbery occurred near the 19000 block of Vicci Street. Four suspects approached the victims and demanded their skateboards. When they refused, the suspects attacked the victims, breaking the jaw of one of the victims. The suspects took two skateboards and backpack and fled the scene.
A residential burglary occurred near the 27500 block of Orsini Avenue. A male suspect was seen inside the residence taking several electronic items. The case is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Station Detectives.
A residential burglary occurred near the 26700 block of Claudette Street. An unknown suspect pried open the pedestrian door leading into the garage. It was unknown if anything was taken at the time of the report.
A grand theft occurred near the 21400 block of Centre Point Parkway. A backflow valve was cut off of a water system near the front of the location.
A grand theft occurred near the 20700 block of Centre Pointe Parkway. Two male suspects loaded several cases of hair care product into the back of their van and drove away. The cases were taken from the loading dock located at the rear of the business.
A male suspect was detained for a shoplift/burglary by loss prevention personnel near the 18600 block of Via Princessa, after he was seen exiting the location with items he concealed in his waistband. The suspect was subsequently arrested by responding deputies.
Another shoplift/burglary occurred near the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Drive. The suspect placed items in a canvas bag and exited the location without paying for the items. The suspect was detained by loss prevention personnel and subsequently arrested by responding deputies.
Newhall (Zone 6) had six reported part one crimes. Newhall had one theft from an unlocked vehicle, one stolen vehicle, one assault, two commercial burglaries, and one rape reported.
A rape was reported from the dirt lot area around Costa Brava and Valle Del Oro. The investigation is being handed by the LASD Special Victim’s Bureau. This incident allegedly occurred on Friday, July 19 between 7 and 8 p.m. (ref -09884).
A burglary was reported from Peachland Elementary School located at 24800 Peachland Avenue in Newhall. This incident allegedly occurred between July 16, 3 p.m. and July 17, 6 a.m. Nothing appeared to be stolen from the location, however glass was smashed and graffiti was drawn at the location. The investigation is on-going (ref -09726).
An assault was reported from the area of Valley Street and Oakrun Lane in Newhall. This incident allegedly occurred on Wednesday, July 17 at approximately 8:30 p.m. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. When the vehicle stopped, a male passenger exited the vehicle and fled the location on foot. Deputies received reports from a victim that the passenger who fled was armed with a handgun and had assaulted him. A large scale search of the area was conducted. A deputy then witnessed the suspect drop a mesh bag that contained a substance resembling methamphetamine, as the suspect was fleeing the location. Although the suspect was not located at that time, the investigation is on-going (ref -09768).
A red 2001 Honda XR50 dirt bike was reported stolen from the 25100 block of Fourl Road in Newhall. The motorcycle was reported stolen from inside the victim’s garage (ref -09708).
A theft from unlocked vehicle was reported from the area of 6th Street and Pine Street in Newhall. Stereo equipment, fishing poles, and the vehicles registration and proof of insurance was reported stolen (ref -09627).
This week in Saugus, Zone 4, we only had 2 reported Part-1 crimes. There was a vehicle stolen from the parking lot in the 22900 block of Soledad Canyon Road on Saturday, July 20, early in the morning. Oddly enough, the vehicle was recovered in the same parking lot later that evening.
We had a vehicle burglarized in the parking lot of the Blessed Kateri Catholic Church on Sunday, July 21, between 8 and 9:45 a.m. The victim returned to her vehicle to discover her driver’s side window shattered. After inspecting her vehicle she discovered her purse and other items missing.
With the above mentioned crimes included, the crime rate for Saugus is down 51.76 percent from this time last year. With the combination of proactive deputies patrolling in Saugus and the alert citizens reporting suspicious activities, we have been able to bring the crime rate down to an all-time low.
